Finding Data
There are three ways to find data on this site:
- use the search box to search for data relating to your interests.
- use the Browse All Data link.
- use the data category links.
Click on an individual dataset to see the data displayed on the map, for more details, and for download options.
Downloading Data
You can download data as:
- CSV file
- KML file (in WGS84 projection for Google Earth)
- shapefile (in NZTM projection for GIS software)
- GeoJSON
Downloading large datasets (more than 1000 features) may take some time.
Accessing REST Services
Public REST services can be found in the following location to be used directly in GIS Software.

Data Licensing
All data, unless specifically stated otherwise, is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence.
You must attribute the data back to its original creator and have this license associated with the data at all times and displayed on any maps, web sites, applications or printed material using this data.
